Pear, Leaf and Partridge cookie cutter set cost: $5.00

Partridge in Pear Tree Cookies

1 cup butter softened
2 cups sifted powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. salt
2 eggs
3-1/4 cups flour
1/2 cup apricot preserves
Sifted powdered sugar
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. milk

Beat butter thirty seconds. Gradually beat in 2 cups powdered sugar. Add vanilla and 1/8 tsp. salt. Add, eggs, beat until combined. Stir in flour. Cover dough and chill 2 hours. Preheat oven 350 degrees. Divide dough into four portions. On lightly floured surface, roll on a portion at a time to 1/8". Cut with pear cutter. Cut out partridge in center of pear on half of the pears. Cut out leaf. Place cutouts on cookie sheet and bake for 7-8 minutes until edges are golden brown. Remove from sheets and cool. Spread preserves on the 'whole pear' cutouts. Sprinkle sugar on the pear with the partridge cutout and place on top of the whole pear. Combine 1/4 cup powdered sugar and milk to spread on back of leaf and attach to pear.
